Saturday November 27th
Accrington will begin their 20/20 campaign for 2011 at East Lancs on Friday May 27th. The home campaign begins the following Friday, June 3rd when Rishton visit Thorneyholme Road. A free date on June 10th is followed by a visit to Church on Friday June 17th and the Group games conclude with the visit of Enfield on Friday June 24th. The semi finals are scheduled for Friday July 1st with the final the following week Friday July 8th. Fixtures

Tuesday November 16th
Accrington have won the Joe Collier Trophy for Sportsmanship. The award was presented at the Lancashire League's annual dinner last Friday.

Accrington face Todmorden for the fourth time in five seasons this time at Thorneyholme Road in the 1st Round of the Worsley Cup. [More]

Accrington's Junior Presentation Night attracted a packed clubhouse of around 80 people on Saturday night. [More]

Saturday October 9th
Accrington's Junior Presentation Night will be held at the club on Saturday 20th November from 8pm. The awards will be handed out by the Mayor and Mayoress.

Accrington's Junior Presentation Night wil be held at the club on Saturday 16th October from 7.30pm.

Thursday September 9th
The curtains come down on the 2010 season on Sunday when Accrington play Enfield in a local derby at Thorneyholme Road, eager to banish the horrendous 193 run defeat at Dill Hall Lane in July. Professional Will Driver is just 4 runs short of 800 for the season and opener Simon Hanson will be hoping for a return to form to notch the 27 runs he needs to make 500 for the first time. Graham Lloyd returns for Accrington in place of Damian Clarke. Ashley Whittaker and Hassan Fazal replace Simon O'Loughlin and Alex Blake in the Enfield side. Professional Adam Bracewell is still injured so Chris Cook-Martin will again deputise. Mas Ahmed will be in charge against his former club.

Friday September 3rd
There will be a Lads verses Dads cricket competition at the club on Saturday September 11th from 2pm. [More]

On Sunday Accrington travel to champions in waiting Ramsbottom for their final away game of the season. The home side need just 9 points from the remaining two matches to succeed their opponents as champions. Ramsbottom look to notch a fifteenth straight league victory to secure their first Lancashire League title since 1992. Andy Holt returns for Ramsbottom after injury in place of Keith Webb and he will keep wicket. Damian Clarke replaces Graham Lloyd in the Accrington team.

Thursday August 26th
The final scheduled double header weekend of the season begins with a local derby at fourth placed Church on Saturday. Church opening batsman Ammer Mirza needs just 52 runs from four possible innings to break Alec Holt's club amateur record for most runs in a season. Mirza currently has 725, having overtaken Mark Aspin's 2003 mark of 722 last Sunday. Mitch Taylor replaces Damian Clarke in the Accrington side. Church professional Luke Woodcock returns to league action. On Sunday Accrington take on Worsley Cup holders Colne at Thorneyholme Road. Both sides are unchanged.

Wednesday August 18th
Four weekends and six matches to go. It's an early start from now on with wickets pitched at 12.45. On Saturday Accrington travel to Rawtenstall. Skipper David Ormerod returns after a well earned break along with Andy Greenwood in place of Graeme Sneddon and Bryn Hargreaves. The home side also make a couple of changes with Keith Roscoe and Afrus Ali replacing Dean O'Brien and Matt Kershaw. League leaders Ramsbottom visit Thorneyholme Road on Sunday. Both sides are unchanged.

Friday August 13th
The Club will be opening its doors and car park for supporters on Wednesday 25th August when Accrington Stanley host Newcastle United in the Carling Cup Second Round.

With a sellout crowd expected at the Crown Ground, parking around the stadium will be limited. The Club, postcode BB5 5BD for people with satnav, will be opening its bar for food and drinks with Sky Sports available on the TV screens.

The Valuation Night which was originally scheduled for this night will now be re-arranged.

Wednesday August 11th
Accrington entertain title chasing East Lancs on Sunday. Graham Lloyd captains the Accrington side in place of David Ormerod. Stuart Crabtree and Paul Carroll win recalls in place of the unavailable skipper and Andrew Greenwood. Paul Kelly and John Turner replace Phil Turner and Nick Westhead in the East Lancs team.

Jake Clarke picked up a hat-trick in taking 4-12 against Rishton at Thorneyholme Road today.

Wednesday August 7th
On Saturday Accrington travel to play fourth placed Nelson at Seedhill. Both teams name an unchanged line-up.

Wednesday July 28th
On Sunday Accrington entertain Todmorden in the reverse fixtures from the opening day. There is no respite for the home sides beleaguered batsmen with the league's leading professional wicket-taker David Wiese eager to increase his 50 wicket haul. Accrington make two changes with Matt Wilson returning after getting married and Andrew Greenwood coming in for his second game of the season in place of Stuart Crabtree who drops down to the seconds, and Paul Carroll. Paddy Howley and Ilyas Hussain come into the Todmorden team in place of Nick Barker and Oliver Wood.

Thursday July 22nd
A double header weekend sees Accrington entertain Bacup on Saturday and travel to Burnley on Sunday in the reverse fixtures from the weekend of May 8th and 9th. Accrington make two changes with Bryn Hargreaves and Matt Schofield replacing wicketkeeper Matt Wilson and Mitch Taylor. Stuart Crabtree will keep wicket. Bacup are unchanged. On Sunday both Accrington and Burnley name Saturday's team with Burnley professional Farhaan Behardien playing his last match before leaving to play in the Emerging Players tournament in Australia.

Professional Will Driver re-signed for the 2011 season tonight.

Thursday July 15th
Accrington return to Thorneyholme Road on Sunday to play Rishton after three fearful hammerings on the road. Accrington have shipped 669 runs in taking just 12 wickets at 55.7 runs per wicket in those games. They have scored 183 runs in losing 30 wickets at 6.1 runs per wicket in three pointless games that have seen the champions slide down the table to ninth place. Accrington are unchanged whilst Ben Bridson replaces Chris Lambert in the Rishton team which is seeking a third win in four games.

Tuesday July 6th
Accrington visit deposed league leaders Haslingden on Sunday. The home side will be looking to get back to winning ways after being beaten in a thriller at Lowerhouse last Saturday whilst Accrington’s batting misfired yet again as they were hammered at East Lancs hot on the heels of their shocking loss at the hands of Enfield the previous week. Accrington are still without professional Will Driver who is recovering from a chest infection so Norden's South African paid man Michael Price stands in. Haslingden are back to full strength with the return of skipper Graham Knowles after injury and John Pemberton in place of Mike Ingham and Joe Maycock.

Wednesday June 30th

Champions Accrington travel to Alexandra Meadows to play East Lancs on Saturday without professional Will Driver who has a chest infection. Derbyshire's Jon Clare, who made 70 playing against Accrington as an amateur for Burnley earlier this season, stands in as professional. David Ormerod's men will be looking to improve on Sunday's horror show at Enfield which saw the club suffer it's heaviest defeat in history. The omens don't favour the visitors with East Lancs welcoming back professional Brendan Nash after playing for the West Indies in the Test series in South Africa. In the corresponding match last season, Nash hit an unbeaten 120 in his sides 259-4 on the way to a 38 run win. The five year form guide shows four wins for East Lancs and three for Accrington. David Turner replaces Andy Clague in the East Lancs team. Accrington also make a change with Damian Clarke replacing Mitch Taylor.

Thursday June 24th
After a free day on Saturday, Accrington travel to Dill Hall Lane to play Enfield in a local derby on Sunday. Liam Brankin replaces Waqas Ahmed in the Accrington team. Gary Brent replaces the injured Enfield professional Adam Bracewell and David Bracewell and Jack Cook replace Chris Maudsley and wicketkeeper Kurt Robinson. Joe Wrigley takes on the gloves.

Tuesday June 22nd
Accrington are without skipper David Ormerod for Friday's final 20/20 game at Rishton. Graham Lloyd returns to lead the side. Graeme Sneddon also returns.

Wednesday June 16th
A busy weekend ahead sees three games in four days as last Sunday's games are replayed on Saturday. Thursday is a virtual 20/20 Group decider against Church at Thorneyholme Road. Both sides have won their first two games with Church favouring to bat second after restricting the opposition to a small total. Church's weakest bowler on paper Ryan North was in great form last Friday conceding just 7 runs from his 4 over spell. Pinch hitting former Accrington man Sagawat Hussain is also one to watch at the top of the order along with new signing Ammer Mirza. Accrington's cause has not been helped by the loss of Graham Lloyd on the night as David Ormerod's men bid for a first victory in this competition against Church.

Friday sees England's World Cup match against Algeria shown live at the club.

On Saturday Accrington again travel to Lowerhouse. David Ormerod's men will be looking to complete their first double of an up and down campaign. Waqas Ahmed returns for Accrington in place of Mitch Taylor. The thirds entertain Enfield on the same day.

On Sunday Accrington welcome Rawtenstall. Both sides are unchanged.

Thursday June 10th
The thirds entertain Burnley on Saturday with a start time of 11.30am to accommodate England's World Cup match later in the day.

On Sunday Accrington travel to Lowerhouse. David Ormerod's men will be looking to complete their first double of an up and down campaign. Graeme Sneddon returns for Accrington in place of the injured Liam Brankin. Charlie Cottam returns to captain Lowerhouse who also add Matt Marquis to a twelve man squad with Scott Hope unavailable.

Thursday June 3rd
This weekend sees a triple header beginning on Friday when Accrington entertain East Lancs in the 20/20. It's cup day on Saturday with Accrington returning to Colne just six days after an epic that saw the home side notch a first league win of the season. Accrington make one change with Waqas Ahmed replacing James Ormerod whilst Colne name the same team. Colne professional Anwar Ali will be relishing the thought of knocking over Accrington's top order again. In the three matches he has played against the champions he has picked up 14 wickets, reducing Accrington to 18-4, 45-4 and 45-6. Accrington's batsmen will be thankful that the Pakistani paceman is restricted to just 10 overs this time.

The seconds entertain Enfield in the Junior Cup on Saturday. On Sunday a local derby at Thorneyholme Road sees champions Accrington, currently in seventh place, take on Church who sit one place above in joint fifth spot. The five year form guide favours Accrington who hold seven wins in this fixture to Church's three. Accrington are unchanged whilst Church pick from twelve, adding Ryan North to Saturday's team.

Friday May 28th
On Sunday Accrington travel to Colne. The form guide shows four wins each in the last five seasons but the last time these two clubs met at this venue it was the home side who came out on top. Accrington are unchanged.

Accrington have been drawn at Colne in the 2nd Round of the Worsley Cup. the seconds will entertain Enfield.

The matches will be played on Saturday 5th June.

Thursday May 20th
League champions Accrington take on Lowerhouse at Thorneyhome Road on Saturday a massive 40 points adrift of leaders Haslingden after winning just two of their first six matches. The form guide shows four wins each for the clubs in the last five seasons. David Ormerod's men finally ended a 15 year hoodoo last season with a first win over Charlie Cottam's men since 1994. Accrington are unchanged whilst Lowerhouse wait on the return of Jon Finch. Fergus Bailey stands by. Accrington's professional Will Driver plays against his former club for the first time. Accrington have no game on Sunday which is the 1st Round of the Worsley Cup. The 2nd round draw which will be made next Wednesday at the league's monthly meeting provided all the games have been completed.

Wednesday May 12th
After the first rest day of the season, League champions Accrington entertain league leaders Haslingden at Thorneyholme Road on Sunday. David Ormerod's men badly need to halt the five match winning streak of Graham Knowles' men to retain their own aspirations of a third successive league title. Accrington hold just 2 wins over Haslingden in the last five seasons with the visitors having won 5 and 3 games ending in No Results in that time. Alex Coleman returns for Haslingden in place of Mike Ingham. John Pemberton is sidelined by a hamstring strain. Accrington are unchanged.

Sunday May 9th
Liam Brankin scored his maiden century today against Bacup. Liam (106) and Waqas Ahmed (57) shared a 125 run  4th wicket partnership as Accy recovered from being 0 for 3 in the first over.

Wednesday May 5th
In-form Burnley are the visitors to Thorneyholme Road on Saturday. Steve Brunt has the luxury of calling on Jonathan Clare as a replacement for the injured Aiden Tate. Clare is on the comeback trail after missing the start of the season due to injury. Accrington also have a player back after injury as the evergreen Damian Clarke returns to begin his fourth decade at the club.

Accrington hit the road again on Sunday to visit Bacup. Tim Farragher's men suffered a mauling at the hands of Burnley last Saturday but came back strongly on Sunday to win at Todmorden. Both clubs name an unchanged team.

Thursday April 29th
It's a second double header for league champions Accrington who face Nelson at Thorneyholme Road on Saturday after back to back defeats on the opening weekend. Nelson hold seven wins over Accrington in the last five seasons with the 2004 season being the last time that the home side prevailed at Thorneyholme Road. Former Enfield batsman Mitch Taylor makes his Accrington debut in place of Andy Greenwood. Another ex Enfield man Gary Brent is sub professional for Nelson. Toc Hussain also replaces Richard Meade in the visitors line-up.

On Sunday, Accrington travel to Rishton for the first local derby of the season. Accrington, who name an unchanged team, lead Rishton 6-4 in the five year form guide. Rishton reverse yesterday's five changes reverting to last Sunday's side with Irfan Muhammed, Andy Procter, Barry Hamilton, Shaun Wyse and Mo Patel dropping out and Garth Wyse, Tiarnan Hamill, Shaun Hutchinson, Karl Andrews and Mick Winkley coming back in. Thursday April 22nd
The season kicks off with a double header. Beginning on Saturday at Acre Bottom when league champions Accrington face Worsley Cup winners Ramsbottom. Accrington have a new professional in Will Driver who will go in at first wicket down. Andy Greenwood plays with James Ormerod also returning after missing the historic ending last season at Lowerhouse. A shoulder injury sidelines veteran Damian Clarke. The home side, fresh from a convicting LCB Cup win over Blackrod last Sunday have Littleborough's Clinton Perren as sub professional. New skipper Jon Fielding is joined by former East Lancs wicketkeeper/batsman Andy Caunce and opening batsman Jamie Pilling. The match, which is played under Worsley Cup rules, begins at 1pm.

On Sunday, league champions Accrington begin the defence of their title with a trip to Centre Vale. Last season Todmorden beat David Ormerod's men four times in all competitions gaining some measure of revenge for their Worsley Cup final defeat at home the previous season. Accrington have Andy Greenwood in the side in place of Damian Clarke. New signings Liam Brankin, Mitch and Matt Taylor all begin in the seconds under the remarkable Len Dewhurst who begins an unprecedented fifth decade at the club. Todmorden will field a sub professional in Morecambe's Mandla Mashimbyi. New skipper Simon Newbitt will have the luxury of calling on Ibra Ali in the spin bowling department. Veteran Stuart Priestley is also in the side along with Oliver Wood.

Saturday April 17th
Accrington are having a squad match at Thorneyholme Road this Sunday commencing at 1.30 where a team captained by G.Lloyd will play against one captained by D.Ormerod.

The seconds lost out to Read in today's friendly at Thorneyholme Road. The visitors made 177-8 and then bowled Accrington out for 70.

Wednesday April 7th
Accrington's match at Norden on Sunday has been cancelled.

Accrington's friendlies against Morecambe have been cancelled.

Sunday March 28th
The Under 15s have earned the club's first silverware of the new decade by beating Oswaldtwistle Immanuel in the Hyndburn Indoor Cricket Competition. Needing 3 to win off the final ball, they scrambled home to win the trophy. Accrington bowled first and restricted Immanuel to 35 - 3 from 6 overs. In reply Accrington made steady progress going into the final over needing 8 runs , 5 runs came off the first 5 balls meaning 3 were required off the last ball, the ball struck the roof and a run was scrambled giving Accrington the victory. (1 run for hitting the roof and 2 runs for running a single)

The Under 13s came fourth but the Under 11s went one better, winning the play off for third place in their age group.

There will be a clean up day at the club followed by a Players Meeting on Saturday March 27th. [More]


Wednesday March 17th
Accrington have signed three new players for the coming season. Former Enfield players Mitch and Matt Taylor join from Oswaldtwistle Immanuel and Liam Brankin returns home to Thorneyholme Road where he began his career as a junior. Matt Donnelly will be vice captain of the seconds this season.

Due to half term the first Senior Indoor Nets will now be on Sunday February 28th at Moorhead.

Sunday February 7th
The 1949 season is now complete in the scorecard archive. It was the year that Accrington signed their second Australian professional, Reg Craig, the 32 year-old South Australian opening batsman. Craig made batting look easy. He scored 874 runs, including 108 not out at Burnley, and took 72 wickets with his leg breaks at 16.0 each in his one season with the club. Accrington's leading amateur bowler at this time was Ron Eckersley, a 23 year-old former Yorkshire and Cambridge University left arm medium fast bowler. Eckersley had five seasons at Accrington, his best being 1949 when he took 48 wickets at 16.7 each. Ron used to move the ball away from the right handers and he dismissed Everton Weekes several times this way. Accrington finished in 13th position in the table, having won 4 and lost 13 of their 26 matches.

Junior nets begin at Moorhead tonight. Under 9 and Under 11 - 7pm - 7:45pm, Under 13 and Under 15 - 7:45pm - 9pm.

Sunday January 31st
The 1929 season is the latest season to be completed in the scorecard archive. The season features the great Learie Constanatine's first ever Lancashire League match in the opening game at Accrington when nearly 5,000 people witnessed the historic event. [More]

Friday January 29th
Accrington search for their first 20/20 win since 2006 when they visit Enfield on Friday 28th May. East Lancs take on Rishton in the other Group A game. 20/20 champions Burnley begin the 2010 competition with a local derby at Lowerhouse. Todmorden take in Nelson in the other Group C match. Ramsbottom take on Rawtenstall and Bacup entertain Haslingden in the opening Group B matches. The semi finals are scheduled to take place on Friday 2nd July with the final the following week Friday 9th July.

Sunday January 17th
Indoor nets begin in February at Moorhead. Seniors are on Sundays from February 21st 11 - 12pm and Juniors Fridays from February 5th. Under 9 and Under 11 - 7pm - 7:45pm, Under 13 and Under 15 - 7:45pm - 9pm
