By Mark Williams
Accrington under 13's lost by 58 runs away to Nelson in the semi final of the cup.

Accrington chose to field after Waqas Ahmed won the toss. Nelson were 91/5 at the end of their innings. This meant Accrington were chasing 92 to win the match and go through to the final of the cup.

Now it was Accrington's turn to bat. Sigowat Hussain opened the batting with captain Waqas Ahmed. Disaster struck when Hussain went for a diamond duck on the first ball of the innings. David Cronshaw stepped into bat, that was when a run went on the scorecard after a no ball was balled. But shortly after he lost his wicket.

Then the youngest player in the team, Simon Hanson entered. Waqas Ahmed was another member of the squad who hadn't got any runs for the team and shortly after Simon Hanson followed. This was an unbelievable downfall of wickets. Then Matthew Donnelly and James Ormerod were batting now. James Ormerod went for yet another duck to join the rest of the team. Mark Williams then entered the field.

Within an over of the pair batting together Matthew Donnelly hit a four. These were the first runs to be hit by an Accrington batsman in the game and apparently his first four of the season. Mark Williams then was unlucky when the ball didn't quite reach the boundary but the batsmen got two runs off the shot. Then rain stopped play. Matthew Donnelly and Mark Williams brought the score up to 26 some of the runs were off byes, no balls and wides. Then Mark Williams got balled out for four.

Just as Mark took his pads off Matthew Donnelly walked back to the changing rooms with the highest total of the innings for Accrington at 12 runs. Philip Green and Josh Armstrong batted and got Accrington up to 33/7. Jonathan Duckett and Chris Penny did not bat because all the overs had been used. It ended up Nelson winning by 58 runs.
