The first club through was Middleton who reached the quarter finals for the second season running after a 9 wicket win over Accrington at Towncroft. Rhys Tierney took 5-29 and Phil Foden picked up 3-15 to help bowl Accrington out for 114. The visitors were in deep trouble at 48-7 with opener Ben Gorton also out of the match having retired hurt on 7. An 8th wicket stand of 66 took Accrington to 114 but the last two wickets fell on the same total to Tierney who trapped last man Damian Clarke in front without scoring after ending Yousuf Ali's brave innings on 50. Ali struck seven fours making his maiden senior half century from 69 balls, adding 66 with Masihullah Patel who finished unbeaten on 22 on his senior debut for the club. Professional Jacob Clarke's 10 was the only other double figure score. The inform Keelan Shipley hit an unbeaten 60 to see Middleton through in the 29th over. Shipley hit eight fours and added 96 with Mark Goddard (37), who was caught behind by stand-in wicketkeeper Damian Clarke off Ali, and an unbroken 19 with Leighton Le Carpenter (10 not out).
