The first ever Fosters Lancashire League meeting between Great Harwood and Accrington ended in a dramatic tie at the Cliffe. Accrington made 162-9 with skipper Simon Hanson top scoring with 38. Hanson put on 67 for the 1st wicket with Sam Bancroft (17). Alfie Taylor hit a senior best 35 from 43 balls with four fours and a six, Jacob Clarke made 15, Ross Brown 12 and Great Harwood conceded 35 extras. Professional Ashen Silva took 4-30, Paul Newton 3-25 and Paul Houldsworth 2-35. Silva top scored with 77, passing 500 runs for the season after Accrington had reduced the home side to 32-5. Former Accrington players skipper Patrick Swanney and Mas Ahmed both failed to trouble the scorers, both falling to Clarke (4-56). David Ormerod bowled a tight spell of 3-24 from 15 overs and Hanson took 2-34. Hamim Miah (14), Matthew Bunn (8) helped Sliva take the score to 106 but when the Sri Lankan departed at 127 after hitting seven fours and two sixes, Accrington looked favourites. Newton and Yousuf Ali took the score to 156 when Newton was run out for 20 with 8 balls to go. Eight were needed off Clarke's final over but Ali was well held by Graeme Sneddon for 16 off the final ball.
