Accrington lost for the second home match running, this time going down by 7 wickets to Lowerhouse. Steady batting by professional Ockert Erasmus (22), Jacob Clarke (21), Stuart Crabtree (19), Keiren Grimshaw (16), Ramiz Hussain (14 not out), skipper Graeme Sneddon and Bryn Hargreaves (12 apiece) saw Accrington make 153-9. Paddy Martin took 6-47 from 17 overs for Lowerhouse. A hailstone shower lopped 4 overs off the Lowerhouse reply so the visitors had to make 145 from 46 overs to secure victory. Openers Jon Finch (23, passing 5,000 Lancashire League runs) and Joe Martin (11) put on 43 and when Erasmus (2-48) removed Ben Heap (3) Lowerhouse were 53-3. Professional Dieter Klein joined Joe Hawke at the crease and this pair saw Lowerhouse to victory with more than 10 overs to spare. Klein hit five fours in making an unbeaten 43 from 42 balls with Hawke hitting four fours and a six in a 45 ball unbeaten 46, adding an unbroken 93 for the 4th wicket. Accrington sit at the foot of the table, the only team yet to pick up a point this season after two matches.
