League leaders Accrington picked up maximum points at Rishton to record their seventh win of the season. Simon Hanson top scored with a career best unbeaten 98 in Accrington's 220-6. The left hander hit seven fours and two sixes. He added 69 with his professional Ashar Zaidi (39) after Andy Greenwood had fallen to former Accrington seamer Scott Greaves. Ali Sartaj picked up Aijaz Shah for 2 and Richard Rostron had Stuart Crabtree (1) caught by home professional Daniel Salpietro one run later at 100. Skipper Graham Lloyd then put on 116 for the 5th wicket with Hanson, making 57 from 67 balls before being bowled by Rostron. Rishton openers Salpietro and Shaun Wyse (14) put on 31 and then Mark Leathert (15) added 35 with Salpietro before giving David Ormerod a return catch. Mo Patel made 36 but Hanson dismissed both players with Salpietro making 57 from 76 balls with two fours and a six before being stumped by Matt Wilson. Seven wickets then fell for the addition of just 16 runs as Rishton slipped from 131-1 to 147-9. A last wicket stand of 19 between Garth Wyse (6 not out) and Ali Sartaj (11) held Accrington up but Zaidi had the latter taken by Graeme Sneddon to secure a vital maximum points win. Zaidi took 4-37 and Hanson 3-23. The victory was Accrington's eleventh league win in succession and their eleventh league win over Rishton in a row following last Sunday's defeat in the Worsley Cup.
