Accrington's hopes of retaining the title suffered another setback as they lost for the third time in four matches, with Rawtenstall claiming their third win in a row to climb off the bottom. Matt Wilson returned to the top of the order to top score with 49, including nine fours, in Accrington's 139 all out. Rizwan Shafiq removed Paul Carroll for 4 and then Keith Roscoe began a spell which would yield another five wicket haul on his comeback. The veteran slow left armer took 5-29, to make it 16 wickets in just 4 matches since his return. Roscoe removed Stuart Crabtree (10) and professional Roy Silva (0) to bring Graham Lloyd and Wilson together. These two put put on 22 when Wilson was caught by Danny Barlow off Andy Payne just 1 run short of a half century. Roscoe then picked up Lloyd for 23 at 103. Graeme Sneddon (8) and Simon Hanson (0) fell at the same score but James Ormerod (12) and Jimmy Hayhurst put on 19 before Toby Bulcock removed them both. Roscoe then picked up David Ormerod to claim another collection. The Accrington skipper dismissed Payne for 3 and Silva sent back Danny Barlow without scoring. When John Hayman was run out for 1, Rawtenstall were 10-3 but Josh Rushmore (30) and Bulcock pulled the game round with a fine stand of 50. Bulcock hit four fours and two sixes in a run a ball 41. Sam Excell chipped in with 20 and then Ormerod picked up his 200th victim for Accrington when he sent back Andy Riley (8). Vinny Hanson was the next to go, dismissed by his Accrington counterpart but Rizwan Shafiq (14 not out) and Matt Barnes (6 not out) ensured that Rawtenstall took home 12 points. Accrington's defeat leaves them 18 points adrift of Haslingden in joint second place with Todmorden.
