Accrington joined Ramsbottom at the top of the table on 48 points after a 12 run win over Haslingden at Thorneyholme Road. Jimmy Hayhurst top scored with 44 at the top of the order against his former club in Accrington's 162-9 from 34 overs. Hayhurst hit eight boundaries in a 54 ball innings, adding 26 with Paul Carroll (15). Graham Lloyd also made 43 from 51 balls with four fours and a six and James Ormerod was unbeaten on 17. Steve Dearden took 4-71 and skipper Graham Knowles 3-58 for Haslingden. This pair were soon batting together after the loss of professional Phil Hayes at 5, taking the score to 45 before Dearden holed out to Toc Hussain to give Accrington skipper David Ormerod his second wicket. Chris Read became victim number three later in the over thanks to a smart piece of wicketkeeping by James Ormerod who whipped off the bails to send back the left hander. John Pemberton (20) and his captain added 55 before becoming Ormerod's fourth victim via a return catch. Alex Coleman lobbed a simple catch to Lloyd to earn the Accrington skipper a collection. Knowles was then run out after hesitating going for a second run after a well made 44 and Haslingden were struggling at 105-5. Maneeb Ahmed became Ormerod's next victim and then Joey Marcroft was well run out by the Accrington skipper in the field. Alex Marcroft was next to go on his debut to give Ormerod his second seven wicket haul of the season but Mohsin Imtiaz (21 not out) and Danny Marcroft (9 not out) batted out time to deny Accrington the bonus points that would have taken them into a clear lead at the top of the table.
