Mark Greenhalgh took a career best 7-26 to lead Accrington to a first win of the season at local rivals Church. Led by new skipper Mark Aspin, Accrington made 136-9 and then bowled Church out for 112. Martin Whittle top scored with 38, Aspin and professional Sherwin Campbell made 26 apiece, Paul Barratt 22 and Greenhalgh 10. Church professional Mark Atkinson (3-27) and Jon Longden (3-42) picked up 3 wickets apiece for the home side. Greenhalgh soon ripped through Church's top order claiming the first five wickets in 6 overs at a cost of just 9 runs, including Atkinson (1) and skipper Phil Sykes (2) as Church fell to 20-5. Former Accrington all rounder Trevor Hatch made 35 before falling to Whittle and Peter Gilrane hit a career best 25 before Greenhalgh returned to polish off the innings by removing Gilrane and Nick Westwell (10).
