Accrington went down to a 6 wicket home defeat to local rivals Rishton thanks to an unbeaten century from visiting professional Greg Blewett. In a 43 overs a-side game Accrington made 189-5 with professional Neil Johnson top scoring with a league best 86. Rishton skipper Graham Bardsley had opener Bob Collins (12) caught behind by veteran wicketkeeper Frank Martindale at 35. Blewett then had skipper Nick Marsh (20) caught by David Wells at 45. Billy Rawstron was next to go at 87, caught by Blewett off Wayne Roberts for 12. Paul Barratt and Johnson added 102 for the 5th wicket before Johnson was caught by Bardsley off Blewett for 86, including nine fours and two sixes. Without addition, Barratt was bowled by Ian Whalley for 45 in the final over of the innings. Blewett hit seven fours and four sixes in making an unbeaten 115. He lost Stuart Roberts (23) to Mark Demaine at 73, David Wilson (11) to Demaine at 103, Wells (21) to Steve Juliff at 167 and John Ainscough (7) to Johnson at 175.
