A half century from professional Neil Johnson helped Accrington to a 5 wicket win in a 28 overs a-side game at Rishton. Johnson also picked up 3-45 to help restrict the home side to 115-5. Mark Greenhalgh struck the first blow for Accrington when he had Rishton skipper Graham Bardsley caught by Vernon Woods without scoring with just 5 runs on the board. Johnson cleaned up David Wilson (15) at 37 and he then had Ian Procter (1) caught by Damian Clarke two runs later. Professional Greg Blewett edged his opposite number to wicketkeeper Billy Rawstron for 35 at 71. Greenhalgh returned to clean up John Ainscough (9) at 94. Neil Wells (29 not out) and Keith Topham (9 not out) were unbeaten when the innings closed. Accrington began well with an opening stand of 42 which was broken when Blewett cleaned up Bob Collins for 16. Rawstron joined Johnson, adding 24 before he was caught by Robbie Walsh off Bardsley for 12. Skipper Nick Marsh was caught and bowled by his opposite number second ball without scoring. Bardsley (4-29) also removed Paul Barratt (12) at 89 and Johnson at 101 for 56, including six fours and a six. Mark Demaine (15 not out) and Greenhalgh (5 not out) then saw Accrington to a fifth win of the season with 2 overs to spare. Scorecard
