Accrington's final match of the season at Acre Bottom ended with the visitors on 89-3 after 25 overs chasing Ramsbottom's 185 all out when the game was abandoned due to rain. Professional Neil Johnson (3-45) removed his opposite number Keith Arthurton (17) at 38. Justin Greenwood (2-39) sent back opener Ian Bell (18) at 55 and Brian Taylor (27) at 74. Neil Holmes had Steve Dearden (9) caught by Johnson at 80. Martin Whittle accounted for Mark Gowers (14) at 123 and Mark Dentith (11) fell to Johnson at 147. Skipper Jack Simpson top scored with 54 from 59 balls, including seven fours, before falling to Mark Greenhalgh (2-51) at 170. Nick Riley (1) was trapped in front by Johnson at 176 and Steve Hall (13) was run out at 179. Greenhalgh cleaned up last man Mick Mills (6) to end the innings at 185 off the final ball of the innings leaving Michael Haslam unbeaten on 2. Skipper Nick Marsh batted through the innings with an unbeaten 41 losing Bob Collins (10) and Johnson (1) to Arthurton at 43 and 47 and Paul Barratt to Riley (10) at 65. Whittle was also unbeaten on 15 when the rain came. Accrington finished the season in ninth place. Scorecard
