Accrington fell to a second defeat of the weekend losing to Enfield by 29 runs at Thorneyholme Road. Enfield professional Damian Fleming took 5-54 after top scoring with 55 in his sides 193-8. Steve Juliff removed both skipper Andy (8) and brother Gary (12) Barker. Vernon Woods had opener Mushtaq Ahmed (36) caught by professional Neil Johnson at 83. The same combination in reverse accounted for Mas Ahmed (11) but Russ Whalley joined Fleming to add 72 for the 5th wicket to put Enfield well on top. Johnson broke the stand by taking a return catch off Fleming at 172. Six runs later Whalley fell to Martin Whittle fo 45 with Johnson sending back Tony Bramley (7) and Dean Rogers (0) with the innings closing on 193-8 after 46 overs. Scott Parkinson was unbeaten on 10 and Mazar Khan 2 not out. Johnson hit an unbeaten 78 but he was the only player in the top five to get in to double figures with Accrington falling to 34-4. Fleming removed Bob Collins (7), Paul Barratt (0) and Billy Rawstron (7) with Mazar Khan accounting for skipper Nick Marsh (5). Neil Barnes (22) and Johnson put on 50 for the 5th wicket and Mark Demaine (27) added 41 for the 6th wicket with his professional before both fell to Whalley (2-29). Fleming picked up Whittle (1) and young wicketkeeper Russell Edmonds (8) on his league debut but it was Mazar Khan (3-56) who polished off the tail by dismissing Juliff and Woods both without scoring to bowl Accrington out for 164 in the 44th over.
