Accrington's nine match losing streak ended with a comprehensive 9 wicket win at Dill Hall Lane over local rivals Enfield. In a match reduced to 34 overs a-side Accrington restricted the home side to 97-8 with professional Neil Johnson (3-25) and Neil Holmes (3-35) picking up 3 wickets apiece. Johnson struck first having Mushtaq Ahmed caught by Mark Demaine before a run had been scored. He then held a return catch off Andy Barker (15) at 42. Two runs later Holmes cleaned up Gary Barker (15). Professional Ian Wrigglesworth was next to go caught by wicketkeeper Mick Wilson off Holmes for 2. Johnson cleaned up Russell Whalley (2) at 50 and Holmes held a return catch off Dean Rogers (2) ten runs later. Tony Bramley (12) and Mick Devenney (17) were run out at 83 and 97 respectively leaving Zahir Afzal (6 not out) and Paul Hacking (0 not out) unbeaten at the close. Accrington lost Johnson to Lee Dobson for 32 at 69 but Bob Collins (43 not out) skipper Nick Marsh (10 not out) saw Accrington home after 30 overs. Scorecard
