Accrington dropped one place to ninth after a 22 run home defeat to Colne in the penultimate game of the season. Visiting professional Mike Pawson took 9-41 to bowl Accrington out for 154 after Mark Greenhalgh had taken 6-95 from an unbroken 23 over spell and Justin Greenwood had picked up 3-32 in Colne's innings of 176 all out. After professional Neil Johnson had opener Daryl Halstead (4) caught behind by Mick Wilson at 11, Greenhalgh removed Paul Wilson (13) at 19, Gary Hunt (20) at 47 and Andy Leah (5) at 59. Greenwood struck in his second over when he bowled Pawson (27) at 88. Greenhalgh removed Gary Laycock (4) at 93 with Greenwood having Richard Murgatroyd (26) and Nigel Rimmer (4) caught by Paul Barratt at 109 and 114. Greenhalgh polished off the tail by sending back Jeff Ellis (18) at 154 and Andy Roberts (37) at 176 leaving skipper Peter Little unbeaten on 6. Pawson reduced Accrington to 29-4, removing skipper Nick Marsh (1) and Johnson (0) in successive balls at 9 and Billy Rawstron (6) and Barratt (0) at 29. Opener Bob Collins and Martin Whittle put on 72 for the 5th wicket before Collins was cleaned up by Pawson for 48. Mark Demaine (0) was Pawson's next victim at 105 with Whittle falling at 114 for a career best 42. Hunt spoiled Pawson's chances of the perfect ten when he had Greenhalgh caught by Halstead for 21 at 138. Pawson then polished off the innings by cleaning up Neil Holmes (4) at 140 and Greenwood (4) at 154 leaving Wilson unbeaten on 7. Scorecard
