Accrington professional Neil Johnson led his team to a 4 wicket win at Colne with an unbeaten 63. In a match re-arranged from the previous Sunday following a second successive Sunday complete washout, Accrington restricted Colne to 141-8. Damian Clarke was the pick of the bowlers with 3-44 from 14 overs and Johnson picked up 2-49. Put in to bat, Colne opener Chris Heap was first to depart trapped in front by Steve Juliff for 1. Darryl Halstead and Andy Roberts took the score to 41 when Johnson had Roberts caught by Juliff for 17. Three runs later, Clarke picked up his first wicket with Johnson taking the catch off Halstead (20). Paul Wilson (3) was held by Barratt at 61 off Clarke who also had professional Mike Pawson taken by Barratt for 28 at 79. A 6th wicket stand of 52 between Gary Hunt (39) and Andy Leah took the score to 131 when Johnson had Hunt caught by Juliff. Leah (22) and Nigel Rimmer (1) were both run out leaving Steve Woods yet to score when the innings closed. Nick Moulding sent back Neil Barnes (13) at 21 with Pawson picking up skipper Nick Marsh (7) at 27 and Bob Collins (10) at 42. Billy Rawston was run out for 9 and Peter Little cleaned up Barratt for 7. When Pawson removed Mark Demaine (1), Accrington were struggling on 95-6 but Martin Whittle (17 not out) gave Johnson the support he needed to guide Accrington to a second successive win with jus 2 balls to spare.
