Accrington moved up two places to eighth after a 9 wicket win over local rivals Church at Thorneyholme Road. Professional Neil Johnson took 6-26 to bowl Church out for 81 and he then hit an unbeaten 25 to see Accrington home in the 19th over. Church professional Chris Matthews picked up the wicket of Bob Collins (22) at 39, but skipper Nick Marsh (21 not out) and Johnson secured the points without further alarms. Church opener Alec Holt was one of only two men in double figures for the visitors. Holt and Ken Fergusson put on 30 befoe Holt was caught behind by Mick Wilson off Mark Greenhalgh for 17. Skipper Phil Sykes (8) was run out at 45 before Johnson removed Fergusson (9) at 46 and Trevor Hatch (0) at 47 in his ninth over. Gerard Metcalf (2) was next to go at 58 in what would be his final Lancashire League game, cleaned up by Johnson. Matthews hit Damian Clarke for a huge six before being caught by Mark Demaine off the same bowler at 60. Johnson then sent back Andy Aspin (0) at 64, Alan Rawcliffe (6) at 65 and Dave Gilrane (0) at 67. Clarke picked up his second wicket when he had last man Jon Longden caught by Russell Edmonds for 2 leaving Nick Westwell unbeaten on 10. Scorecard
