Accrington 160-5, Burnley 164-5

Burnley completed the double over Accrington with a 5 wicket victory at Thorneyholme Road. Bob Collins top scored with 68 in Accrington's 160-5. The opener put on 69 with skipper Nick Marsh who was bowled by Bob Whitaker for 26. Professional Neil Johnson added 71 with Collins for the 2nd wicket before falling to his opposite number Joe Angel for 33. Five runs later the newly promoted Mark Demaine was caught and bowled by Angel without scoring. Collins was finally run out at 146 after a 138 ball innings which included three fours. Mark Greenhalgh was also run out for 2 at 160. Billy Rawstron was unbeaten on 14 with Martin Whittle yet to score when the innings closed on 160-5. Accrington began well with Johnson sending back Mark Harvey (0) and Greenhalgh having Terry Little (2) caught by Collins both men departing at 8. Skipper Duncan Spencer (10) was caught by Collins off Johnson at 27 but Pankaj Tripathi (39) and Peter Brown (24) took the score to 75 before Steve Juliff had Tripathi caught by Johnson. Angel then saw Burnley home adding 40 with Brown and an unbroken 49 with Andy McLeod, both men finishing unbeaten on 33. Accrington's defeat was the club's fifth in a row after winning the opening three games. Scorecard
