Accrington went down to a fifth successive home defeat, losing to Bacup by 9 wickets. Bacup professional Roger Harper hit an unbeaten 66 after taking 5-46 in an unbroken 23 over spell to help restrict Accrington to 128-9. Professional Neil Johnson was first to go caught behind by John Chapman off Peter Cook for 18 with 23 on the board. Harper claimed his first victim when he had opener Bob Collins caught by Nick Cronshaw for 25 at 66. One run later David Ormerod had Billy Rawstron taken by Cronshaw without scoring. Skipper Nick Marsh was then caught and bowled by Harper for 17 after the addition of a single. Paul Barratt (11) and Mark Demaine (18) added 30 for the 5th wicket before Harper trapped Barratt in front. Three runs later Demaine was caught by skipper Peter Thompson off the West Indian. Ormerod removed Neil Holmes (0) and Mark Greenhalgh (2) to finish with 3-42 with Harper adding the wicket of Neil Barnes (8) as his fifth victim. Vernon Woods (15 not out) and Damian Clarke (0 not out) added another 15 for the last wicket when the innings closed on 128-9. Greenhalgh removed Cronshaw (4) at 18 but Mark Taylor hit an unbeaten 36 with Harper hitting ten fours and a six to see Bacup home in the 25th over. Scorecard
