Accrington ended a disappointing double header weekend with a 5 wicket home defeat to East Lancs after being bowled out for 82. Both professionals shared a dozen wickets but it was Tony Dodemaide's 7-30 which proved to be the match winning spell for the visitors. The Australian struck in the first over of his second spell after a change of ends bowling Bob Collins for 10 with 17 on the board. Neil Barnes and professional Dipak Patel brought the half century up in the 21st over but two runs later the amateur fell to East Lancs skipper Andy Compton for 18. Five runs later Dodemaide had Paul Barratt (3) caught by Colin Clemson. Two balls later the Lancashire League debut of Morgan Whipp ended in sorry fashion as the all rounder was taken by Darryl Redhead without scoring. The run out of Paul Seedle, also without troubling the scorers, left Accrington on 61-5. Martin Whittle became the third batsman in a row to fall without scoring when he too was caught by Redhead off Dodemaide three runs later. Without addition Patel was caught by Mark Lomas off Compton for 31. Mark Greenhalgh was caught behind by David Pearson off Dodemaide for 4. The Australian cleaned up Steve Juliff (2) and one run later trapped Mick Wilson in front for 10 to wrap up the innings after 36 overs leaving Damian Clarke unbeaten on 1. Patel opened the bowling with Greenhalgh, removing Stuart Clemson (1), Dodemaide (0) and Nick Westhead (0) at 5 in the space of six balls. Pearson was next to go for 15 at 22 but Compton (34 not out) and Redhead (24) put on 53 before Redhead became Patel's fifth victim leaving Lomas (1 not out) to hit the winning run in the 38th over. Patel took 5-15 from 19 overs which included 12 maidens. Accrington ended the weekend in joint next to bottom spot in the table with one win from four games. Scorecard
