Title chasing East Lancs beat Accrington by 22 runs at Alexandra Meadows. The home side lost opener Stuart Clemson (9) to Neil Homes at 39 but professional Tom Moody joined team David Pearson to take the score to 91 when the amateur was bowled by Accrington skipper David Lloyd (3-54) for 47, made from 102 balls and containing five boundaries. Moody went at 120 for 51 from 73 balls, including five fours and a six, stumped by Billy Rawstron off Lloyd. Phil Mooney was run out for 1 and Mark Lomas fell in identical fashion to Moody for 15. Accrington professional Rod Tucker picked up the wickets of Daryl Redhead (2) and skipper Andy Compton (2) leaving Nick Westhead (3 not out) and Andy Pratt (1 not out) together when the innings closed on 135-7 after a rain shortened 43 overs. Moody then took 6-49 and Ian Haworth 3-31 to dismiss Accrington for 113. Moody removed Nick Marsh (3) at 8, Neil Barnes (10) at 27, Rawstron (26) at 56, Andy Barker (5) at 77 and Lloyd (2) at 89. Haworth then sent back Trevor Hatch (2) and Paul Barratt (0) at 92 and Tucker, who top scored with 48 from 77 balls, at 103. Mark Demaine made 9 before being run out and then Moody ended the innings by cleaning up Holmes (6) at 113 to secure maximum points for East Lancs. Accrington stayed in eighth place in the table whilst East Lancs remained in third. Scorecard
