Accrington's 7 wicket win at Bacup was the club's second win on the road this season. The visitors won the toss and asked Bacup to bat. Sub professional Ian Austin's first five overs yielded just 4 runs as Accrington restricted Bacup to 28-3 from the first 10 overs. Opener Peter Thompson was first to head back to the pavilion after being run out for 2 with the score on 16. Five runs later Austin had his opposite number Steve Wundke caught behind by Billy Rawstron for 1. Opener David Usher was caught by Graham Beech off left armer Martin Whittle for 22 and then Peter Usher (5) also fell to the Austin-Rawstron combination at 35. The same combination also accounted for Terry Lord (23) at 67 and when Mark Taylor was run out for 20, Bacup were 86-6 in the 31st over. Nick Cronshaw added 30 with Peter Nicholson (10) and then John Chapman (10 not out) and Cronshaw added 27 in Bacup's 143-7. Cronshaw finished unbeaten on 36 with three fours and a six made from 42 balls. Austin finished with 4-40, all his victims caught behind by Rawstron. Following an opening maiden over from Wundke, Peter Fell had Neil Barnes caught behind with his first ball. Graham Beech joined Nick Marsh to repair the damage with a 50 run stand which ended with the run out of Marsh for 28. Beech and Austin took the score to 95 when Beech fell to Wundke for 35, made from 87 balls with three fours. Rawstron joined Austin to take Accrington to victory in the 40th over. Austin finished with an unbeaten 52 from 54 balls with five fours and a six and Rawstron made an unbeaten 20. Scorecard
