Accrington beat East Lancs for the second time this season to record a fourth straight win this time by 7 wickets at Alexandra Meadows. Tight bowling restricted the home side to 130-6 from the full 46 overs. Professional Rod Tucker took 3-43, Alan Worsick 1-26 and Mark Aspin 1-29 for the visitors. Tucker sent back David Pearson (2) at 4, skipper Wayne Cooper (8) at 20 and John Wharton (9) at 38. Opener Craig Smith made 31 before falling to Aspin at 61. Professional Steve Jefferies and Andy Compton put on 53 for the 5th wicket before the amateur was bowled by Worsick for 28. Phil Mooney was run out off the final ball of the innings to leave Jefferies unbeaten on 44, taking 14 off Worsick's last over after a painfully slow start. Accrington again tried a new opening partnership but Paul Barratt (4) and Andy Stevenson (6) made only 14 before being parted. Graham Lloyd and Tucker put on 54 for the 3rd wicket before the Australian fell to Ian Haworth (2-33) for 34. Neil Jones then hit six fours and two sixes in making a commanding unbeaten 43 from 44 balls to see Accrington to victory with 11.2 overs remaining. Lloyd also finished unbeaten on 33, the pair having added an unbroken 65 for the 4th wicket. Accrington stay in second place 2 points behind Nelson. Scorecard
