Accrington notched a third home win in eight days, beating Rawtenstall by 64 runs. Andy Stevenson top scored with an unbeaten 42 from 81 balls, adding an unbroken 63 for the 7th wicket with Paul Barratt who made an unbeaten 35 from 57 balls. After a rare failure from Billy Rawstron (3), professional David Lloyd (21) and his son Graham (18) put on 53 before both fell to Rawtenstall professional Tony Merrick. The West Indian also accounted for Neil Jones (24), Mark Aspin (0) and Andy Gardener (3) in picking up 5-62, reducing the home side to 120-6 before Stevenson and Barratt joined forces to push the total up to 183-6, a total helped by 37 extras. Aspin was soon amongst the wickets sending back Philip Pickles without scoring in his first over and league legend Peter Wood (2) with the first ball of his third over. Glenn Barlow followed for 21 with the score at 25. Former Accrington captain John Swanney (14) became Aspin's fourth victim at 70 but professional Lloyd got in on the act next sending back Jonathan Benn four short of his half century. Brian Payne was Lloyd's next victim at 102 with Merrick following suit 1 run later. Aspin finally claimed his fifth victim when he had wicketkeeper Brian Manning caught by Graham Lloyd without scoring. Neil Chadwick (15) and Anthony Farnworth, who was bowled behind his legs, also fell to Lloyd who finished with 5-24 as Rawtenstall were bowled out for 119. Aspin's final figures were 5-60. Accrington stayed in third place in the table. Scorecard
