Accrington's penultimate match of 1985 was the replayed match at Enfield. The match ended in a second successive run rate defeat although this time the margin of victory was quite comprehensive. Enfield professional Hugh Page top scored with 54 in his sides 149-5 made from 42 overs. Andy Barker was out before a run had been scored, edging Alan Worsick to Billy Rawstron behind the wicket. David Stanley and Graham Beech took the score to 56 when the left handed Stanley was trapped in front by Ian Birtwistle for 27. Beech made 36 against his former club before being stumped by Billy Rawstron off Birtwistle (2-32). Page and Gary Barker then put on 63 before Page was caught by Neil Barnes off Worsick at 140. Barker finished unbeaten on 21 with Peter Holt being dismissed by Mark Aspin off the last ball of the innings. Needing 135 from 38 overs, Accrington lost Rawstron for 7 to a run out. Then Graham Lloyd fell on to his wicket attempting to negotiate a short ball from Page with the score on 28 in the 11th over. Neil Barnes also fell to Page two runs later without scoring and when professional David Lloyd was run out for 21 Accrington were in dire straights at 46-4. Neil Jones (9) and Andy Stevenson (8) fell to Stanley (3-36) and Andy Gardener (3) and skipper Trevor Hatch (13) fell to Holt. An unbroken last wicket stand of 27 between Mark Aspin (17) and Birtwistle (10) took the score into three figures as Accrington fell well short on 104-9. Accrington fell to fifth place in the table.
