Accrington notched their first double of the season by beating Church by 45 runs at West End. Billy Rawstron's second half century of the season helped Accrington post 186-6 which was the club's highest score of the season to date after being asked to bat. The wicketkeeper/batsman shared an opening stand of 96 with his professional David Lloyd who made 48. After Lloyd fell in the 29th over, Rawstron added 35 with Andy Stevenson (18) and 20 with Neil Jones (13) before falling to Nick Westwell at 166 after making 66 from 134 balls with six fours to earn a collection of £34.50. Alan Worsick hit a typical 32 from 17 balls to provide some late acceleration for the visitors. Church also had a cracking start with Billy Wilkinson (33) and Gerard Metcalf putting on 66 in 17 overs before Wilkinson fell to Ian Birtwistle (2-38). Skipper Steve Metcalf (15) helped his brother add 27 for the 2nd wicket before giving Lloyd his first wicket. Ian Osborne was stumped by Rawstron next ball to put the former Lancashire all rounder on a hat-trick but professional Ian Callen survived. Lloyd then ended the fine innings of Gerard Metcalf who hit four fours in making 53 out of a total of 116. Darren Varley and Tommy George both fell to Lloyd without scoring to put Accrington well on top at 117-6 and when Callen fell to Birtwistle 1 run later the writing was on the wall. Martin Heyes was run out at 120 and the Worsick and Lloyd polished off the tail with the professional taking 6-52 to dismiss Church for 145. Scorecard
