Accrington got back to winning ways by thrashing Bacup by 130 runs at Thorneyholme Road to notch a sixth successive home win. Professional David Lloyd and his son Graham laid the foundations with a 2nd wicket stand of 95 after Ashantha de Mel had sent back Billy Rawstron for 14 with the score on 25. Lloyd senior pocketed a £14.70 collection for making 53 from 90 balls with Graham falling agonisingly short of a half century caught by wicketkeeper Graham Schofield off Peter Usher after facing 95 balls for 49. Alan Worsick gave the innings some much needed momentum at the death hitting 28 from 18 balls as Accrington finished on 169-7. Worsick then turned it on with the ball taking a remarkable 6-9 from 13 overs, 6 of which were maidens. Mark Aspin also played his part in picking up 4-27, including the wickets of John Kershaw before a run had been scored and de Mel who made 23 of his sides 39 all out. The win took Accrington back into second place above East Lancs who lost against leaders Haslingden. Scorecard
