Accrington went down to a 7 wicket defeat in a rain reduced 20 overs a-side game at Ramsbottom. Graham Beech hit an unbeaten 54 in Accrington's 100-4 with skipper Alan Richardson making 25 before being run out. Steve Monkhouse picked up the wickets of opener Geoff Hayhurst (8) and Trevor Hatch (2) with home professional Ian Callen removing his opposite number David Stead without scoring. Ramsbottom openers Mick Everett and Peter Ashworth put on 71 before Ashworth fell to Stead for 36, which included his 4,000th Lancashire League run. Ian Birtwistle removed Callen (7) at 78 and skipper Henry Hall was run out at 83. Everett (39 not out) and John Ramsbottom (12 not out) then steered the home side to victory with 13 balls to spare. Accrington dropped one place to tenth after ten games. Scorecard
