East Lancs handed Accrington a repeat dose of last weeks medicine, dishing out a 45 run beating at Thorneyholme Road on Saturday May 22nd. Jim Kenyon (38), David Adams (29), Brian Ratcliffe (29), Trevor Chappell (22) and Wayne Cooper (22) all batted solidly to take East Lancs to 150-8. Home skipper Ian Birtwistle picked up his best return of the season to date 6-40. Geoff Hayhurst (31) and Peter West (33) put Accrington to a good position at 70-1 but Kenyon (3-13) and George Baron (3-33) made the breakthrough to spark a collapse. The rest of Accrington's batting fell away to leave John Swanney stranded on 33 as the champions were bowled out for 105 to slip to a 3rd defeat in 5 games. East Lancs remain top whilst Accrington slip to 10th.
