Accrington ’s second home match of the season saw Lindon Dewhurst’s man secure a hard fought first win of the campaign.

Chasing just 56 for victory the home side ended up crawling over the line with just 2 wickets in hand.

Professional Wes Hall was in rampant mood reducing the visitors to 24-5 before a 9th wicket stand between Phillip White (20 not out) and Brian Kemp (11) took the score past the half century mark. Hall then polished off the innings to finish with 8-24. Hall’s opening partner Jim Eland bowled a superbly economical spell of 2-13 from 13 overs.

Left arm paceman Bob Banks then took 5-20 as he ripped out the home sides top order to put the visitors back in contention. Hall top scored with 21, the only double figure score in the Accrington side. Rawtenstall professional Chandu Borde also took 3-15 but Accrington scraped home with Eland and Eddie Robinson at the crease.
