A superb all round performance by Fazal Mahmood enabled East Lancs to an 81 run win over Accrington at Alexandra Meadows. Mahmood hit eighteen boundaries in scoring 105 in the home sides 188 all out. Frank Hopwood also hit 36 in a 3rd wicket stand of 133 with Mahmood with Jim Eland (4-32) and Bill Haworth (4-59) taking 4 wickets apiece for Accrington on a baking hot afternoon. Mahmood then took 7-15 from 18 overs, including 11 maidens to bowl Accrington out for 107. Roy Dewhurst top scored with 36 and Haworth made a late 25 to make the visitors score a shade more respectable. Mahmood has so far taken 29 wickets at a cost of just 89 runs. Scorecard
