Accrington were the only team to win on Saturday June 6th as rain interrupted some of the matches. Chasing 154 to win in 104 minutes, Accrington got home with 4 wickets and five minutes to spare to score a third successive win over local rivals Church in the past week. Consistent batting by wicketkeeper Bill Heys (36), professional Sadashiv Patil (31, his highest score of the season), skipper Sam Pilkington (22 not out), Syd Edmundson (16) and Bob Fishwick (14) took Church to 153-9 declared. Bill Haworth (3-42) and Russ Cuddihy (3-35) picked up 3 wickets apiece for the home side. Paid man Bobby Simpson (43) and Frank Rushton (41) added 70 for the 2nd wicket after Cuddihy had been run out for 2 to give the Accrington reply some early impetus with the first 42 coming in just 15 minutes. Derek Rushton took up the mantle with an unbeaten 32 to lead Accrington to victory and into eighth place in the table. Scorecard
