Senior Award Winners
Saturday November 19th 2022

Long serving batsman Andrew Greenwood won the Champagne Moment at Accrington's Senior Presentation Night.

Greenwood hit his maiden senior half century in his 158th innings for the club at Colne in July.

Ben Gorton picked up two awards to round off a successful first season at the club.

Gorton was named Players Player of the Year and he also won the 1st XI Prize for Most Runs.

Veteran Jimmy Hayhurst picked up the 1st XI awards for Best Average in both Batting and Bowling.

Toby Bulcock won the award for Most Wickets.

Club captain Graeme Sneddon won the Chairman's Cup.

Junior Player of the Year was George Mills Jnr.

In the the seconds Afrus Ali was named Players Player of the Year and he also won the Batting Average Prize.

Asmat Mehmood won the award for Most runs, Yousuf Ali won Most Wickets and Mohammed Tayyib won the award for best Bowling Average.

In the thirds Players’ Player was Waqar Ashraf who also won the award for Most Wickets.

Waleed Majeed won the award for Most Runs with Mohammed Nadeem winning the award for best Batting Average.

The best Bowling Average award was won by Toc Hussain.

  • Ben Gorton’s total of 8 league half centuries was the second most in a season by an amateur behind Graham Beech who scored 10 50’s in 1981
  • Ben Gorton’s total of 767 league runs was the 4th highest by an amateur behind Graham Beech (938 in 1981), Graham Lloyd (849 in 2008 and 842 in 2009)
  • Jacob Clarke became only the 2nd player in the club’s history to score 3 centuries in 4 innings, the only other player to achieve this was Ashar Zaidi in 2013. He is only the 10th player in the club’s history to score 3 league centuries in a season
  • Graeme Sneddon is now in 2nd place in the list of most league appearances with 429, behind Ian Birtwistle (525)
