Andre Seymore hit 147 for his state Easterns who won its first major cricket title to become the 2002/03 SuperSport Series champions, by beating the star studded Western Province by 273 runs in Benoni. At one stage in their first innings, Easterns were 27-5 but 120 from Pierre de Bruyn took them to 238 all out. Western Province made 309 in their first innings with Ashwell Prince, Accrington's original choice as professional last season top scoring with 79. Neil Johnson, Accrington professional in 1993, hit 30. Facing a 71 run deficit, Seymore hit a superb 147 in a stand of 213 for the second wicket with Zander de Bruyn (169) as Easterns totalled 472. Rawtenstall professional Andrew Hall then ripped through Western Province's batting, taking 5-22 to go with his 6-77 in the first innings as they were dismissed for 128.
