Mas-sive blow for Accrington
April 17th 2002
Accrington have suffered a huge blow with the new season just days away with the news that former captain Mas Ahmed has moved back to his old club Enfield.
Mas joined Accrington from Enfield in 1997 after 14 seasons at Dill Hall Lane. Mas scored 1559 runs for Accrington at a healthy average of 19.5 and was club captain for two seasons at a time when the club was in need of stability after having seven captains in six seasons. In 1999, he figured in an all time record club partnership of 221 for the 3rd wicket against Rishton at Blackburn Road with professional Mark Bailey.
Mas' son, 18 year-old Mohsin will continue to play at Accrington.
