Unusually we gave away quite a number of runs and at times our fielding lacked conviction/co-ordination (probably due to the substitute umpire). The pick of the bowling was Antonio's 2 overs for 1 run and Raheem's 3 overs with 3 wickets for 17 runs. Once again our batting was falling short of the target, until Raggy and Rhubarb came into bat, needing over 40 runs from the last 4 overs. Raggy put in a magnificent display scoring an unbeaten 33 runs, this capped a great individual performance which also included a fantastic one handed catch which he showed off by juggling 4 times before finally putting the batsman out of their misery.
Accrington U11s v Church U11s 26th June 2012 Accrington 199, Church 225. The Under 11s fell to their first league defeat on yet another dismal evening in sunny Accrington. There was some good bowling, Antonio 2 overs, 2 wickets for 5 runs, Riley 3 overs, 1 wicket for 7 runs, Raheem 3 overs 1 wicket for 10 runs, Harris 2 overs 1 wicket for 2 runs and Luke and Jacob both bowling 2 overs each without giving away a single run. Unfortunately we failed to trouble the scorer with the bat and a good bowling display by Church who gave away very few extras meant that in the end we were quite a way short of their total. Accrington U13 ‘v’ Lowerhouse U13 (4) – Monday 25th June Lowerhouse (4) - 178 with 9 outs Accrington - 290 with 4 outs Performances Batting Joe Lloyd 36 Runs (3 x 6’s and 4 x 4’s) Callum Dwyer 18 Runs (1 x 6 and 2 x 4’s) Elliott Welsh 15 Runs (3 x 4’s) Thomas Cunliffe 11 Runs (2 x 4’s) Bowling Anthony Braithwaite 2 – 1 – 1 – 2 Joe Lloyd 3 – 0 – 4 – 2 Henry Hindle 2 – 1 – 1 - 1 Callum Dwyer 2 – 1 – 4 – 1 Elliott Welsh 3 – 1 – 10 - 1 A super performance both in batting and bowling, particular mention to Anthony’s C & B Elliott’s Run Out assist on his own bowling and Henry’s catch. A super display of athleticism from Rubarb behind the stumps. Callum, Elliot, Henry and Anthony all having a wicket maidens. Lowerhouse 274 with 3 Outs Accrington 209 with 6 Outs Performances Bowling Harris Wilkinson 2 – 0 – 10 – 2 Riley Armstrong 3 – 0 – 18 – 1 Lowerhouse, "summer" seemed a distant memory as the Accrington crowd endured a balmy seven degrees in the shade, of which there was plenty either under their brollies or sat in their cars. Zeus looked a forlorn figure! We played in the cup against a very good Lowerhouse (1st) team and put up a good performance despite losing It is the first time we have come up against opposition of this quality and whilst we were beaten I'm confident that at the rate we are learning should we play them again the difference between the teams would be dramatically reduced. Accrington U11 ‘v’ Clitheroe (2) U11 – Tuesday 12th June Clitheroe 199 with 9 outs Accrington 234 with 2 outs Performances Batting Ben Ross 11 runs Bowling Harris Wilkinson 2 – 1 – 3 – 3 Jacob Threlfall 2 – 0 – 3- 1 Alice Clarke 2 – 0 – 7 – 2 Louis Cunliffe 2 - 0 – 7 – 1 Raheem Kasser 3 – 0 – 9 – 1 Riley Armstrong 3 – 0 – 12 – 1 Zeus informed the team after the match that it was one of the best under 11 performances he had ever seen, and having been around since the dawn of the Gods he's seen a few. Everyone is improving match by match, let's enjoy ourselves and keep this up until the end of the season! Wednesday 13th June Rishton U15s v Accrington U15

Tuesday 5th June Accrington U11 ‘v’ Burnley U11 Accrington 251 with 3 outs Burnley 233 with 6 outs Performances Batting Riley Armstrong 12 runs Raheem Kasser 8 runs Bowling Luke Meechan 2 overs, 1 wicket for 6 runs Louis Cunliffe 2 overs, 1 wicket for 6 runs Jacob Threlfall 2 overs, 1 wicket for 6 runs Raheem Kasser 3 overs, 1 wicket for 6 runs A drab evening at fortress Thorneyholme was brightened by another victory for the Under 11s. The victory although well-earned was made harder as a result of some sloppy fielding and some John Cleese style funny running/walking between the wickets. Alice and Antonio are now the only two players who have yet to lose their wicket! Zeus in a woollen hat was an interesting sight! The Accrington umpire pulled off the trick with regard to holding back the rain again but the crowd commented that this was old hat now and that they expected something more spectacular like a local appearance of the Aurora Borealis. Have we overrated the umpire's powers - he's perhaps not so much Zeus as Dr Seuss? Tuesday night he certainly pulled off the Cat in a Hat look!
Accrington U11s ‘v’ Church U11s – Wednesday 30th May Cup match Accrington – 238 with 4 outs Church - 202 with 9 outs Performances Batting Alice Clarke 8 not out Ben Ross 11 Not out Bowling Riley Armstrong 3 – 0 – 12 – 2 Alice Clarke 2 – 1 – 1 – 2 Raheem Kasser 3 – 0 – 16 – 2 Luke Meechan 2 – 2 – 0 – 2 Harris Wilkinson 2 – 0 – 4 - 1
Another game, another win and the Accrington bandwagon rolls on! On a dark and foreboding night another fine performance, particularly from the bowling attack, gave more optimism for a successful season ahead. Raggy and Raheem bowled well once again taking two wickets each, however even these great performances were eclipsed by Alice and Luke's stats, Alice bowling two overs, taking two wickets for one run and Luke bowling two wicket maiden overs! In terms of batting Alice capped a fine performance hitting eight runs and Rhubarb contributed a further eleven. Another great performance by the whole team, the first three games have been a pleasure to watch, lets keep it up. Finally something quite remarkable was witnessed by the crowd as the game drew to a close. Practically the whole game had been played under dark and threatening skies with torrential rain and lightning seeming likely at any moment. As the final over was drawing to conclusion it was noted by the spectators that the Accrington umpire lifted his arms to the heavens and as if Zeus himself appeared to summon the torrent of rain that had been held back all evening.

On the final evening of the Great British summer, Accrington extended their legendary unbeaten run (to two games). Another fantastic performance by the whole team with every single bowler taking at least one wicket!
Once again the fielding was excellent topped by a great one handed catch off his own bowling by Raheem.
Bowling highlights included, Raggy bowling 3 overs taking two wickets for 4 runs and Raheem 3 overs taking two wickets for 5 runs
Batting, Harris and Rhubarb helped themselves to runs once again, Harris hitting 14 and Rhubarb hitting 19
The travelling Accrington supporters were in fine spirits as they left the ground for the long journey home.
A special mention again for the Accrington umpire, he's a master of all he surveys, a conductor skillfully directing his orchestra. Does anyone know this strangers real identity?

Accrington U11 ‘v’ Longridge U11 Longridge 223 with 7 outs Riley Armstrong 3-0-14-4 On a typical evening for cricket (cold) the team maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign (in their first game) with a win against Longridge. There were some fine performances in the field, notably by the Accrington umpire whose astute field settings and bowling changes were admired by the crowd. Other highlights included:- Raggy taking four wickets with his spin bowling and at one point he was on a hat trick. Louis taking a further two wickets with pacey accurate bowling, Harris hitting eight not out and Rhubarb 12 not out, The fielding was very good and the low number of extras given away contributed to a fine performance by the whole team.
