Re-union Night Messages 2006

Trevor Hatch

Good evening everyone, sorry I can't be with you tonight, I'm busy filming on location...filming Rocky VI , co starring Andy Barker

It certainly does'nt seem 20 years since we won the cup. I can remember as if it was yesterday, when Jonesey came out to join me at the crease and asked me if 'I thought anyone would have a fag on them'..- he was a bit nervous!!

I believe Albert Ross is your special guest with Bumble tonight.  I'm sure they would make a great double act, as they both worked well together back in 1986.

I hope Birty and Wos' have been let out of their care homes for the night and are being looked after by all the 'younger people'. I'm sure
they will be Ok if they don't stay up too late. Unfortunately, my Matron is very strict, and will not let me loose on the public anymore.

Anyway, must go, its 'medication time' at the 'funny farm'. I promise I'll come to the '50th'

I'd Just like to say to all the members of the 1986 team, what a great pleasure and a privilege it was to have been on the cricket pitch at the same time as you all and to have been fortunate enough to share in a great moment of glory for Accrington CC.

It's certainly an era in my life I'll always cherish and I'll will carry the fond memories with me forever. I really wish I could have been around for the re-union, but unfortunately circumstances don't allow this at the moment, I'll be thinking of you all, have a great night, have a few beers for me and hopefully I'll catch you at the 30 year re-union event.

Cheers

Hi from Australia - the probable home of the 2006 World Cup Champions.

I wish I could be with you to celebrate one of the great moments in world cricket - Accrington winning the 1970 Worsley Cup - but I had made previous arrangements before I knew about tonight's dinner.  I had organised to watch

Australia win the 2006 World Cup. For a while I thought I might be able to watch the World Cup in England but given England's recent form I wasn't even sure the World Cup would be televised in England. My vague recollection is Australia thrashed England 3-1 the last time we met.

Although I was a little boy when I was at Accrington I got around the field like an old man but now I am an old man and the memory is generally fading fast. For example, I can't remember the exact details of David Lloyd's appalling behaviour when Essex and Lancashire shared a dressing rooom at Aigbath (Liverpool) in 1971. But I do remember every second of the five months I spent at Accrington - even the nightly trips with Eddie to Chans, the Chinese fish and chip shop in Whalley Road. They were the happiest five months of my life and for that I have to thank you guys and Eddie and June and Harry and Irene - not to forget Bert and the super deal he gave me on the 60 quid Anglia.

Hopefully, we will all catch up in the near future - I'm hoping to go to Paris to see Australia win the rugby world cup - again. Have a great time
tonight and please have a lemonade and some crisps for me.

Best Wishes

Bruce
